Self Center continues Halloween candy buy-back program

In efforts to continue his campaign to prevent obesity in our youth, Dr. Stan Self of Self Center, Fairhope, is encouraging school-age children (to age 18) to bring to him their Trick or Treat candy that they get on Halloween night. In return, Dr. Self will pay $1.00 per pound for the candy In order for the student to receive $$, they must come in with the candy themselves or should accompany an adult on the specified days.

Dr. Stan Self of Self Center, P.C. in Fairhope, believes that learning and practicing healthy eating habits when you are young is a crucial step in the prevention of obesity. Since 1991, Dr. Self has dedicated his practice to the treatment of obesity, clinical research and related diseases, and later began providing cosmetic therapies, as well. He also has been the investigator for various pharmaceutical companies in more than forty clinical research trials on obesity and related diseases such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus II. A frequent speaker to various groups on the subject of obesity, Dr. Self routinely sees how obesity can affect individuals, both physically and emotionally.

Dr. Self stated, “This is our third year to do this project and I hope we will buy back even more this year than in our previous years. We have previously sent all the candy we bought back to our troops overseas. It is an added benefit to keep all those sugar-loaded calories out of our children’s diets. Last year we bought back approximately 130 pounds of candy.”

Candy buy-back times and dates are: Mon. Nov. 3; Tues, Nov. 4; and Wed., Nov. 5; The time for each of these Days is 3:00-5:30 p.m. at the Self Center, P.C.; 306 South Greeno Road; Fairhope, AL 36532.
